The Cosmos

The Realm turns inside a vast clockwork sky.

The Orrery is the celestial machine that contains the world: a vast construction of hidden gears and turning spheres. The flat plane of the Firmament lies at its centre. Above it, the great Pendulum swings between sun and moon, marking day and night as it arcs across the sky.

At the heart of the Firmament stands Palladium, the World Tree, its colossal roots sheltering the imperial capital of Metropolaris. Around it stretches the Litorate, the great central continent divided into eight powerful nation-states, each with its own culture, resources, and ambitions, bound together by the Commonwealth.

The Orrery is not merely a cosmological fact. It is the architecture of fate. The turning of its mechanisms marks seasons, omens, and the boundaries between what is possible and what is not. Most people do not debate its origins. They simply live beneath it and feel its weight in their bones.

The Commonwealth

The political heart of the Realm.

The Commonwealth is the political, cultural, and economic centre of the Realm, ruled from Metropolaris beneath the roots of Palladium. Its aristocracy, descended from legendary heroes, guides a vast and multicultural society that has absorbed countless peoples and traditions through conquest and alliance.

Bound by shared governance yet shaped by diverse provinces, the Commonwealth balances unity with rivalry. Its influence reaches into every sphere: diplomacy and trade, faith and war. The Realm stands at a pre-industrial level of development, with the first signs of machinery appearing in the great cities. Metropolaris leads in innovation, where artisans and visionaries craft wonders powered by rare and unconventional energy sources.

The Outer Realms

Beyond the Litorate, the world grows strange.

Encircling the central continent lie the Hinterlands, elemental archipelagos ruled by the takwin; the Widderslainte, a shifting faerie realm of abandoned worlds; and the Umbra, a vast underworld of shifting labyrinths and hidden cities. These outer realms are places of mystery and danger, where the laws of nature bend and the edges of the known world blur into legend.

Every expedition sent to map the Umbra has been swallowed by it. The Widderslainte does not hold still long enough to be charted. The Hinterlands answer to forces older than empire, and older than the gods that rose from it. The known world is large. What lies beyond it is larger still.

Heroes and Faith

Every god was once mortal.

Faith in the Realm is rooted in historical truth: all gods were once mortal heroes. Through legendary deeds, these figures rose to immortality, shaping the world's archetypes and claiming divine power. They remember hunger, fear, and hope. Their ascension is not myth. It is recorded history, and it tells every Hero in Eidolon that the boundary can be crossed again.

A Hero is one marked by Fate, carrying a spark of story woven into their very being. This inner fire grants extraordinary potential, from unmatched skill to powers that defy the ordinary. Heroes are forged through peril or revelation, their deeds growing into legend that sustains their vitality, shapes their abilities, and may one day carry them toward immortality.
