Eidolon, known to its people simply as The Realm, blends history with myth. Real-world echoes mix with literary invention, creating a stage for political intrigue, grand exploration, and strange wonders.
A Hero in Eidolon is one marked by Fate, they carry a spark of story woven into their very being. This inner fire grants extraordinary potential, from unmatched skill to powers that defy the ordinary. Heroes are forged through peril or revelation, their deeds growing into legend that sustains their vitality, shapes their abilities, and may one day carry them toward immortality.
The Commonwealth is the political, cultural, and economic heart of the Realm, ruled from the sprawling capital of Metropolaris beneath the roots of the World Tree, Palladium.
Its aristocracy, descended from legendary heroes, guides a vast, multicultural society that has absorbed countless peoples and traditions through conquest and alliance.
Bound by shared governance yet shaped by diverse provinces, the Empire balances unity with rivalry, its influence felt in every sphere from diplomacy and trade to faith and war.
The Realm turns within the Orrery, a vast clockwork cosmos where the flat plane of the Firmament lies at the centre of a celestial machine. Above, the great Pendulum swings between sun and moon, marking day and night, while hidden gears and spheres turn in harmony.
At the heart of the Firmament stands the World Tree, Palladium, its colossal roots sheltering the imperial capital of Metropolaris. Around it stretches the Litorate, the great central continent divided into eight powerful nation-states. Each province has its own culture, resources, and ambitions, bound together by the Commonwealth.
Encircling the continent lie the Hinterlands, elemental archipelagos ruled by the takwin; the dreamlike Widderslainte, a shifting faerie realm of abandoned worlds; and the shadowed Umbra, a vast underworld of shifting labyrinths and hidden cities. These outer realms are places of mystery and danger, where the laws of nature bend and the edges of the known world blur into legend.
Eidolon stands at a pre-industrial level of development, with the first signs of machinery and industry appearing in the great cities. The imperial capital of Metropolaris leads in innovation, where skilled artisans and visionaries craft wonders powered by rare and unconventional energy sources.
Faith in the Realm is rooted in the historical truth, that all gods were once mortal heroes. Through legendary deeds, these figures rose to immortality, shaping the world’s archetypes and claiming divine power. Other principal powers exist, but the gods that oversee civilisation were once part of it.
Magic In Eidolon, Heroes wield powers drawn from four paths. Arete achieves superhuman mastery through skill and discipline. Liminance applies discoveries that bend the limits of natural law. Each is distinct, yet all are bound to the legendary deeds of the Invictus. Magic shapes the arcane forces of the world. Theurgy channels the will of gods or otherworldly principals.
